Ethical Statement

This work is important, perhaps even crucial. Every single day, I dedicate myself to doing better in my work and in my personal life. As a result, I acknowledge that this ethical statement is a living document that will continually change as my work and experience deepen.

Within the scope of my practice, I wholeheartedly believe in the wisdom of each person’s body, stories, and desires. My work is informed by the Health at Every Size and fat activism movements, the sex positivity movement, Narrative Therapy, as well as feminism, queer theory, and Black Feminist Theory.

I strive to create a space that is shame-free, blame-free, and stigma-free. My guiding principles are curiosity, exploration, compassion, and gentle inquiry. I believe your body is not a problem to be solved, your desire is wise, your pleasure imperative, and the relationships in your life a key element of your overall nourishment and healing.

My commitment is to revealing the systems and the stories that keep us feeling isolated and broken, to offering spaces for inquiry and radical truth-telling, and to assisting with the healing process in whatever ways I can within the scope of my skill set and experience.

I wholly reject the tenets of hyper individualism in the work that I do. This means my work and my beliefs center the power and the importance of relationship to heal. I recognize and honor the very real impacts of racism, weight stigma and fat hatred, transphobia, ageism, sexism, misogyny, classism, colonialism, and much more on each and every person I encounter in my practice.

I commit to making my work as accessible as possible, from one-on-one work to small group work, online courses and webinars, articles, blogs, and social media. Sliding scale spots for coaching is available. I am also committed to making my content screen-reader friendly and I strive to ensure closed captions are on any videos I create.

Though much of the work that I do is centered around sex, intimacy, the erotic, desire, pleasure, and human connection, I do not engage in sexual or romantic relationships with past or current clients, sponsors, students, or mentees.

I acknowledge that I am on unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples – specifically the Musqueam, Tslei-Watuth, and Squamish peoples upon whose land I live, love, and flourish. I continually grapple with what it means to be an uninvited guest, a settler who continues to benefit from the violence against indigenous people, and I am grateful every single day that I get to remain here and partake in these resources and spaces.

I also acknowledge that I continually benefit from the unearned privilege afforded to me for being white, cis, and middle class. Much of my work both personally and professionally is in challenging myself to confront these realities and to contribute to a paradigm shift so that all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, body size, age, class, sexual orientation, can experience liberation from oppression.
